Almond Anise Loaf
1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. anise seed
1/4 tsp. almond extract
4 eggs
2 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2/3 c. finely minced toasted almonds
Cream together butter and sugar. Add anise seed and almond extract. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each. Add flour, baking powder, and salt; blend well. Stir in almonds. Grease and flour pan. Pour in. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Glaze with powdered sugar-water mixture. Top with whole toasted almonds.
